Prophetic Ponting!

At times one wonders how prophetic some people can be.Ponting, in a column in the Times of India (courtsey Gameplan), wrote that ‘’Personally, the Melbourne Test was not very good for me. Once again Harbhajan Singh got me early in the second innings. For me getting past Harbhajan’s first over is crucial. Once I do that, I am pretty confident against him.’

As luck would have it, Ponting escaped dismissal on the very fourth ball that he faced from Harbhajan (It was Harbhajan's second over but first to Ponting). Looking comfortable after Benson’s largess, as he rushed forward to guide the offie to the midwicket region, the Australian skipper missed the ball completely.

But for the little touch of his pad, and the bounce that Bhajji got from the wicket, Ponting would have been walking back at 31, stumped. Once again as Harbhajan’s bunny.

Ponting did survive the first over from Harbhajan. And as he had indicated in his column, it could well have been lethal!Fortunately, India did not have to pay for that reprieve. The star, once again, was Bhajji!
